McKennon Runions
Mrs. Evelyn McKennon Runions Cook, age 84, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, and a
former resident of the Riverside Community, passed away on Sunday, March 22, at
Hidden Acres Nursing Home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cook conducted in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home
in Mt. Pleasant, with Pastor Dennis Altrogge officiating.
Burial in the Beech Hill Cemetery.
Evelyn was born on June 22, 1924 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the
late Otey and Rosie Church McKennon.
She was preceded in death by her husbands: Maybern Runions, Sr.,
and James Cook. Evelyn was a hard worker all of her life and along with raising
her five children, she had worked as a supervisor of housekeeping for both Bel-Air
Nursing Home and Life Care Center of Columbia. She loved her family and enjoyed
spending time with them and cooking for them. Evelyn loved to read, especially
her Bible and books by Jennette Oke. She loved working crossword puzzles as well
as adding to her spoon collection. She loved her church, the Columbia Seventh
Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include her children: Becky (Doyle) Tomlin of Santa Fe, Janie
Mooneyham of Nashville, Linda (James) Williams of Columbia, Rosanna (Roger)
Jones and Maybern (Sondra) Runions, both of Mt. Pleasant; 9 grandchildren and 14
great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mildred Williams and Barbara Brooks and two
brothers: J.S. McKennon and Collin McKennon, all of Columbia; a special friend,
Miss Ada Taylor of Mt. Pleasant; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one son:
John Calvin Runions; one sister: Lucille Lanius; 3 brothers: Richard, Robert and
Dudley McKennon and one son-in-law: Herbert Mooneyham.
Pallbearers will be Jeffery Tiller, Calvin Williams, David Williams, Edward
Williams, Greg Brown, Rodney Runions and Thad Runions.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Columbia Seventh Day Adventist
Church.
The family would like to give special thanks to the
employees and staff of Hidden Acres Nursing Home.
