This aerial map shows the GPS of the Vinson & Gargis Cemeteries. The pointer is set on the Gargis Cemetery. ACME Mapper 2.0 shows these coordinates for Vinson Cemetery as: N 34.69541 W 87.56282.
Similarly the GPS coordinates for the Gargis Cemetery are: N 34.69211 W 87.55909.
To reach the Vinson & Gargis cemeteries from Hwy 133 (wilson Dam Hwy) go out Old Highway 20 toward Leighton Alabama and turn south (right) on Sockwell Lane. The Vincent Cemetery can be seen from the road if the crops are low on your left about 100 years out in the field. The Gargis Cemetery is about 500 yards to the northwest of that in the hedge row.
Please don't trample the farmer's crops to get to this cemetery. Growing here will be wheat in the winter and cotton or soy beans in the summer so in between those crops I am sure you can visit this cemetery even though in the past it has been labeled the Vinson Private Yard. It appears to be maintained by someone. Respect their privacy rights even if they cannot stop you from a visit according to Bob Riley's new cemetery visitation law.
