The funeral for Ferdie Taylor, 76, Route 1, Sheffield, will be at 2 pm today at Old Brick Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Stanley Smith officiating. Burial will be in Old Brick Cemetery, Spry Funeral Home, Sheffield, directing. 
The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.
He died Thursday after a sudden illness.
Born in Colbert County, he was a retired auto worker, a member of Old Brick Presbyterian Church, a member of the Old Brick Cemetery Committee, and a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Lizzie Taylor, Sheffield; stepchildren, Ted Osborn, Kingston, Tenn., Howard Osborn, Jimmy Osborn, both of Orlando, Fla., Carolyn Corbett, Florence; sister, Annie Lee Trousdale, Sheffield; half brothers, Bill Taylor,, Shelbyville, Tenn., Robert Taylor, Edward Taylor, both of Mount Hope; 13 step grandchildren; 16 step great grandchildren.
Bearers will be Stanley Trousdale, James Trousdale, David Dossey, Pete Kent, Kenneth Corbett, and Bud Trousdale.

Lizzie Virginia Taylor, age 95, of Sheffield, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2007.
Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 8, noon-1 p.m. at Old Brick Presbyterian Church, of Colbert County. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the church chapel, with the Rev. Robert McGeehee officiating. Interment will be at Old Brick Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ted Paul Head, Kenneth, Gary and Adam Corbett, Edward and Ricky Osborn. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Stanley Trousdale, her brother, and Preston Morris, her nephew.
Mrs. Taylor was a member of Old Brick Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ferdie Taylor.
Survivors include sons, Ted Osborn, of Etowah, Tenn., Howard Osborn (Betty), of Monticello, Ga., Jimmy Osborn (Cathe), of Eustis, Fla.; daughter, Carolyn Myrick (Jimmy), of Sheffield, Ala.; brothers, Stanley and James Trousdale; sisters, Louise Jones and Ruby Isbell; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence, is directing.
